Welcome to the Canadian Institute for Sustainable Biodiversity

The Canadian Institute for Sustainable Biodiversity is Royal Botanical Gardens’ program to reach out and help all Canadians achieve well-being and support the conservation of nature, at the same time.

"Sustainable Biodiversity" is a work in progress to describe our approach to the study, use and conservation of the natural and cultural diversity of the living world, with a focus on plants. Our goal is to encourage, facilitate and empower individual, consumer, political and corporate choices that protect wild plant populations, habitats and ecological relationships, while improving human well-being, enjoyment and knowledge.

Many organizations have aligned themselves with a positioning statement that has arisen from the workshop, and funding is currently being sought to establish a secretariat to support network development, activities and collaborations.
