The Cootes to Escarpment Park System:
A Conservation and Land Management Strategy

Our Steering Committee

The Steering Committee for the Cootes to Escarpment Conservation and Land Management Strategy consists of representatives from each of the land-owning agencies within the study area, as well as the head of the Remedial Action Plan for Hamilton Harbour. The agencies are, in alphabetical order:

A noteabout Royal Botanical Gardens' participation in this project: the Nature Sanctuaries of Royal Botanical Gardens make up about 60% of the natural lands within the study area. With over 20 km of nature trails, and many programs for the public about nature and the environment, it is understandable that RBG has a leading interest in this project. Furthermore, RBG was able to secure funding from the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation to undertake the present project. However, it should be understood that this is not an "RBG Project." The Cootes to Escarpment Conservation and Land Management Strategy is very much a partnership involving the above agencies, all of which have an equal say on our Steering Committee.
