RBG is pleased to welcome the McMaster University Physics and Astronomy Department and its Portable Planetarium.

On Monday, April 8, 2024, the Moon will pass in front of the Sun and cast its ethereal shadow onto millions of Canadians – and McMaster and Hamilton.  Prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse!  Learn all about eclipses in general, how to view the upcoming solar eclipse safely, and what exactly to expect on April 8.

  • Space is limited; pre-registration required
  • FREE add-on, tickets to Nature’s Superheroes also required for entry to RBG Centre

Experience Details

  • Show length: 45-60 minutes.
  • Everyone will be seated on the floor; cushioned mats are provided.
  • Due to the nature of the shows, they are not suitable for children younger than 6 years old. Adult supervision is required at all times.
  • The planetarium is a dark room, and the show contains fast-moving and occasional flashing lights.
  • Strollers are not permitted.
  • If you have anyone in your group with accessibility needs, please let us know in advance so that we can work with you to find the best accommodation.
