Event Description

Join Catherine for a day of birding across multiple RBG properties! This unique program, developed for the intermediate birder, will take you to a variety of locations to explore the different habitats and behaviours of our feathered friends. In November, LaSalle Park will be on our location list for peak duck-viewing time in our area.

  • Fee: $45 + HST & $1 Service Fee (Members 10% off)

Registration opens: Wednesday July 31, 11 a.m.

Participants are responsible for their own transportation between locations (all locations will be confirmed with registrants prior to the program date). Participants will need to provide their own water bottle, litter-less lunch, and snacks for the day. You will be hiking slowly for a few kilometers over the course of the program, both in the morning and afternoon.

To prepare for your birding session, please consider the following:

  1. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy, close-toed shoes.
  2. We will be hiking slowly for a few kilometers over the course of 2-3 hours.
  3. Please bring a water bottle, and snacks in case you get hungry.
  4. Binoculars are a must, but if you don’t have a good pair, we can lend you a pair for the outing.
  5. Although we love animals, please leave your pets at home.
  6. To protect our natural ecosystems, we ask you to stay on the trails and refrain from feeding the wildlife.

Instructor Bio

Catherine is a former teacher and a birding enthusiast. She loves to share the joy of birding with people of all ages. Catherine is a certified bird bander and volunteers at the Long Point Bird Observatory and runs a Breeding Bird Banding Station over the summer. She is also a hawk counter and committee member of the Niagara Peninsula Hawkwatch, responsible for education and training.
