Artist: Shanty Sweets Quintet – Black History Month Special
Delight in the beauty of winter as the Rock Garden turns into the season’s most elegant jazz lounge experience. Adorned in glowing lights and roaring firepits, the garden’s natural winterscape is the perfect setting for a night out. Explore the garden pathways or cozy up indoors while you enjoy live music, classic cocktails, and delicious cuisine. RBG has partnered with Emerging Artists Association to bring live performances from emerging musicians and award-winning artists.
- Reservations are required and can be made via Open Table.
- Doors open 5:30 p.m. Music begins at 6:30 p.m. with three 45-minute sets throughout the evening (6:30, 7:45, and 9 p.m.)
- This is a 19+ event. I.D. required at the door.

Event tickets are required for access to Rock Garden’s indoor and outdoor spaces. Tickets / reservations are made exclusively through OpenTable, paying event cover through that service.

- Restaurant Seating: Cozy dining setup in the Rock Garden Bistro with reduced visibility of the stage. Standard bistro tables and chairs.
- Great Room Lounge Seating: Relax on couches and lower seating along the room’s perimeter. Small table to rest food and drinks provided. Not recommended for visitors with mobility concerns.
- Great Room Table Seating: Located in the center of the performance space with view to the stage, seated in standard-height chairs with small tables.

Run It Forward!
Shanty Sweets is a Toronto-based recording artist, singer, songwriter, composer and DJ who boasts a diverse musical style that blends Roots-Reggae, Dub, and Jazz influences. Her journey into music was influenced and shaped by drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists including Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Erykah Badu, Alanis Morissette, Phyllis Dillon, Jill Scott, Bob Marley and Dennis Brown.
Shanty’s music resonates with a rich tapestry of musical heritage.
With over two decades of experience performing live, Shanty has mesmerized audiences across renown venues in the Greater Toronto Area, including the Gladstone Hotel, Carlu Hotel, Art Gallery of Ontario (A.G.O.), Nathan Philip Square, Yonge-Dundas Square, Mel Lastman Square (and more) performing at festivals such as Afro-Fest, Masani Production’s “RastaFest”, The T.U. Jazz Festival, The Jerk Festival and The International Music Arts Festival. In addition, She’s performed out of town as well at The Globus Theatre (Bobcaygeon), The Welland African-Caribbean Music Festival, Moksha Canada’s “Niagara Falls – Colours Festival, Oshawa, Jamaica, Montreal, just to name a few.
Shanty Sweets recently released her debut single “Let It Burn” which was released in the Fall of 2022, and garnered widespread acclaim for its powerful rhythm track, cleverly written lyrics, and relevant subject matter. In addition to her success, she’s received an award for top 5 performers of the year 2024 from one of Canada’s top reggae magazines, Reggae Xclusive. Her upcoming EP dropping this summer, will contain some sweet melodious and cultural material of reggae, roots and jazzy soul that will keep you wanting more. Shanty is currently working with her Reggae-Jazz band, “The Shanty Sweets Quintet,”
