Looking for things to do for March Break in Hamilton / Burlington? Even if the kids aren’t already signed up for our March Break Camp, there’s still lots to do at RBG March 9 to 16. Join us for exciting, hands-on, and educational experiences for the whole family!

Here are 5 experiences to keep the kids busy this March Break!

Note: many of these experiences are time-ticketed or have limited availability; pre-registration is strongly suggested to avoid disappointment.

1: Experience Alice in Bloomland

Extended hours during March Break! 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (time-ticketed); RBG Centre

Tumble down the rabbit hole into “Alice in Bloomland,” a wondrous botanical experience at Royal Botanical Gardens where reality bends and blossoms into a world of curiosity for all ages! Inspired by the pages of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, this floral showcase weaves together the magic of horticulture, the whimsy of floral design, and the marvel of visual arts to create an enchanting indoor wonderland straight out of a dream.

Time-ticketed; pre-purchase your tickets to avoid disappointment

2: Explore the Imagination Playground

Extended hours during March Break! 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (time-ticketed); RBG Centre

Unleash the magic of creativity at RBG with the Imagination Playground! Explore and play with uniquely shaped foam blocks that let imaginations soar.

Included in your Alice in Bloomland tickets (time-ticketed entry)

3: Create a Whimsical Planter as a Family

March 8, 9, 15, 16; (11 a.m. or 2 p.m.); RBG Centre

Build your own imaginative Bloomland gardenscape! Construct a delightful garden with live floral and plant material accented by imaginative flowers and mushrooms.

Add a workshop to your Alice in Bloomland tickets!
$30 (+HST) per kit. Space is limited.

4: Explore a Fibre Arts Exhibit

Daily; RBG Centre

‘Of Wonders, Wild and New’ brings together 9 contemporary fibre artists from around the world, with works that explore the broad themes of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by playing with scale, movement, wonder, dream states, other-worldly beings and the sense of being immersed in an experience

5: Watch the Escarpment Train Exhibit

Weekends (March 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16), 10:30 to 3 p.m.; Rock Garden

RBG’s “G scale” model train experience takes you on a journey through four seasons of whimsical Canadian landscapes while telling the story of how railroads shaped our history.

Included in Rock Garden Admission or your Alice in Bloomland Tickets (exhibit ~2km down the road)
